About The Yau Awards

Funded by John Templeton Foundation and Taikang Life Insurance, the Yau High School Mathematics Awards, or YHMA, was established in 2008 to encourage high school students worldwide to participate in project-based competition in mathematical sciences. This webpage provides interested students, parents, school teachers, and university professors outside Greater China with information and guidance to be successful participants for the 2010 competition. If needed, we also assist enrolled teams to identify college professors to guide them to complete their projects.

To receive maximum guidance, interested students should submit their ˇ°intent to participateˇ± no later than June 30, 2010. Project reports are due on August 30, 2010. Two regional presentations will take place outside greater China. Participants outside Asia must present their projects in November 13, 2010 in Los Angeles. Participants in Asia but outside greater China could choose to present their projects either in Los Angeles or in October 16, 2010 in Singapore. Presentations in Singapore will be videotaped, and will be judged along with all overseas participants by a single panel in Los Angeles . Winners in this competition will be recommended to compete with winners from other regions in December 2010 in Beijing for the awards.

This competition accepts projects concurrently submitted to other competitions, such a county fair, state-wide, national or international competition.
